Northeast India is a land of more than 220 ethnic communities, rich natural resources, and strong traditions of community life. Yet it continues to face deep development challenges — geographical isolation, poor infrastructure, and recurring conflicts limit access to opportunity.
Many community-based and civil society organizations are doing vital grassroots work. Yet these organizations face chronic under-resourcing: limited leadership development, project-based funding instability, sparse staff training, and low visibility to attract partners and donors.
Development efforts led from outside the region often fail to connect with the Northeast's cultural and ecological diversity. NoDe was created to address this gap.
"Strong CSOs make strong communities —
and Northeast India deserves both."
